Connecting our devices to the web and sharing information exposes our community to cyber risk, whether we are at home, on campus, or on the go. In week one of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we are emphasizing the vulnerability of internet-connected devices and how we can best secure them.
Two quick actions every member of the Bruin Community can do to connect with confidence and protect online accounts/information are:
- Enable Multifactor Authentication
- Customize your privacy settings
Additional Connect It, Protect It Resources
Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
WHY IS MFA IMPORTANT?
Implementing MFA provides additional layer(s) of authentication beyond your passwords and makes it more difficult for a cybercriminal to gain access to your information, such as your bank account, email, and UCLA system, even if passwords or PINs are compromised.

Privacy settings protect your personal information from being accessed by strangers online. Strong privacy settings put you in control of your digital identity and ensure only trusted friends and connections have access to the information you share.
