On April 8th a new Zoom update was released. In the update, Zoom has provided access to settings in the desktop application that previously were available only on the Zoom web application. The ‘Lock Meeting’ and ‘Enable Waiting Room’ settings are now available next to the ‘Participants’ button in the main screen of the desktop application. See image below:
‘Enable Waiting Room’ is enabled by default and the host has the option to lock the meeting from the desktop directly.
Another change is that the Invite button that used to be where the new Security button is, has been moved to the bottom of the participant window.
As recommended before, using these settings can enhance the security of the meetings and should be used where applicable. If you don’t see these new features, you need to upgrade to the latest version of the application. To update your Zoom application, see the instructions here, or follow the steps below.
How To Update Zoom:
- Open the Zoom application
- Click on your profile in the upper right-hand corner of the Zoom application
- Select Check for Updates from the drop down
- If a new version is available you will get a notification to update, otherwise you should see the following "You are up to date" message:
