A vulnerability has been discovered in F5 BIG-IP Edge Client for Windows, which could allow for remote code execution. F5's BIG-IP is a family of products covering software and hardware designed around application availability, access control, and security solutions. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability allows for remote unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application used to browse a specially-crafted web-page. Recommendations

  • Apply appropriate patches or appropriate mitigations provided by F5 to vulnerable systems immediately after appropriate testing.
  • Run all software as a non-privileged user (one without administrative rights) to diminish the effects of a successful attack.
  • Remind all users not to visit untrusted websites or follow links provided by unknown or untrusted sources.
  • Inform and educate users regarding threats posed by hypertext links contained in emails or attachments especially from untrusted sources.
  • Apply the Principle of Least Privilege to all systems and services.
