Mobile devices and other technologies allow us to create a virtual classroom or office, enabling us to connect with others no matter where we are. Although convenient, navigating this digital world safely requires vigilance. Simple tasks such as downloading software, sending an email from a coffee shop, or logging on to hotel Wi-Fi can put us and our devices at risk.
In week two of Cybersecurity Awareness Month (CAM), we are emphasizing how to create a more secure digital home and office. This theme centers around steps the Bruin Community can take to secure Internet-connected devices for personal and university use, including:
- Protecting personal devices at home and on the go by making sure your Wi-Fi is secure.
- Updating software frequently and only installing software from trusted sources.
- Safeguarding sensitive data and avoiding unintentional sharing.
Below are more resources and tips on securing your home and office.

WHY SHOULD YOU PROTECT YOUR DATA?
What if your device failed tomorrow, or was lost/stolen? If you are not regularly backing up your computer, you could lose those files forever. Remember, you can always buy a new device when it's lost or stolen, but your data is irreplaceable.
