Week 3 - Secure Your Loved Ones

According to a 2023 global study, 43% of Gen Z and 36% of Millennials reported being victims of cybercrimes, in addition to the Silent Generation (20%) and Baby Boomers (15%). Many of the people in these groups do not have equal access to formal cybersecurity training, which puts you in a unique position to help spread awareness.

In Week 3 of Cybersecurity Awareness Month (CAM), we are focusing on how you, your friends, and your family can support each other to adapt to the risk that connecting with others poses. During this week, the CAM content addresses how you can:

  1. Outsmart cybercriminals to defend against social engineering attacks.
  2. Prioritize safety while interacting on social media.
  3. Travel securely by safeguarding sensitive data and assets while on the go.

Below are more resources and tips.

Social Engineering

WHAT IS SOCIAL ENGINEERING?

Social Engineering is a method used by cybercriminals to manipulate you into divulging sensitive information, performing certain actions, or providing access to protected systems and data. It exploits human psychology, instead of
technical hacking techniques.

Social Media Safety

WHY SHOULD YOU BE AWARE OF WHAT YOU SHARE?

Now more than ever, families are spending more time on social media. Information is shared online each time you post a picture, create a video, share an article, or use check-in features that provide location.

Protection While Traveling

WHY SHOULD YOU PROTECT
YOUR ASSETS ON THE GO?

Cybercriminals often prey on
unsuspecting people who may expose their data or information by using unsecured, wireless networks. Visiting new spaces can be particularly risky.
